The Ukrainian-born, Boston-bred singer Alina Simone is rightly turning heads with her latest album, Everyone is Crying Out to Me, Beware. The album’s a collection of covers of cuts by the short-lived, 80s Russian punk figure, Yanka Dyagileva, sung in Russian. Simone’s chamber-folk treatments are stirring, surprising, and often profoundly reverent.
