1. Note to Self by Alina Simone 

Sure, Simone’s protagonist resembles an older version of Lena Dunham’s Hannah Horvath: underemployed, Brooklyn-based, slightly overweight, Internet-obsessed. But rarely has the paradox of an acutely culture-savvy generation with little way to monetize itself been rendered with as much satirical bite.
